What should I do if a staff member is being bullied? | QCS

How do I go about solving the problem of a member of staff who is being bullied?

Dear D,

You do not say whether you are the Registered Manager, a member of staff or the person being bullied.

The care home must have a policy on bullying, it may be an individual policy or as part of a wider policy about employment. You should refer to this policy and make sure that the home will deal with any complaint as set out in the policy.

Anyone can report bullying as the person being bullied may be too frightened to make the complaint themselves.

It may be helpful to read the information on these two websites;

Bullying UK which is a charity dedicated to stopping bullying:

http://www.bullying.co.uk/bullying-at-work/

The other is information published to give advice to people who are being bullied:

https://www.gov.uk/workplace-bullying-and-harassment

Please do write to me again if I can offer more advice.

Best wishes.

Sheila
