Health and Safety Executive (HSE)

The HSE is an independent regulator which operates in the public interest to minimise work-related death and injury throughout the UKs workplaces. As the national regulator in this area, the HSE helps to saves lives by protecting workers from unnecessary dangers.  They do this through education programmes, establishing rules and working in partnership with local authorities to carry out inspections.

The HSE has considerable enforcement powers at its disposal, including the issuing of improvement notices, fines and prosecuting organisations in court.
