QCS launches more detailed and comprehensive infection control guide

Infection control and CQC compliance

As part of registration and achieving CQC compliance it is essential for all registered providers to demonstrate that they have policies and procedures in place relating to infection control. Even though the CQC is the inspector and has considerable powers at its disposal to tackle non-compliance, under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (updated 2012) it is not actually required to provide infection control guidance. The guidance for compliance is actually issued by the Department of Health.

New QCS infection control policy

To help care homes with or without nursing, and those providing domiciliary care , supported living , mental health and learning disabilities services, we have launched a new policy. If you are a registered provider or manager, the new QCS policy ensures you put in place the processes and procedures to achieve compliance. The new policy release is accompanied by a guide that helps you to quickly and easily understand your obligations.

Achieve compliance with QCS infection control policy

As a key element in complying with the overall Health & Safety requirement, infection control is not an option; it is truly a critical area, none more so than for those who exhibit lowered resistance to common infections. The consequences of poor infection control may not result from wilful actions; they may result from people simply not knowing.

The new QCS infection control policy puts in place a robust framework so that care homes with or without nursing, and those that provide domiciliary care, supported living, mental health and learning disabilities services are better able to ensure effective infection control and achieve compliance.
