A highly experienced employment lawyer, Partner Oliver McCann acts for employers across all industry sectors, from owner-managed business through to large PLCs, as well as education establishments and charities. He has particular experience in advising employers in domiciliary care, leisure, retail, security, manufacturing, marketing, and the IT sectors.
With a pragmatic, commercially focused approach, Oliver advises businesses on all aspects of HR and employment law including: restructuring, exit planning and strategies, union disputes and independent contractors/self employed consultants, whistle-blowing and TUPE.
He is a high profile speaker and contributor to news publications on employment matters throughout the North West region including presentations at the ACAS Lancashire Employer Relations Forum, CIPD events and various seminars and workshops.
Oliver’s career in employment law saw him initially advising employees, before working with businesses, using his experience to successfully safeguard the interests of his employer clients. He joined Napthens as Partner in 2012 and heads up the firm’s East Lancashire office. In addition to his role at Napthens, Oliver is a non executive director at Training 2000 where he assists the board of directors on planning and strategy, giving him a deeper understanding of the day to day issues facing businesses – a significant advantage when delivering solutions to clients.
