Does the Care Certificate replace Induction?

Dear H,

Thank you for your question which was sent to us during Sheila Speaks – Care Certificate webinar.

The Care Certificate does not replace induction, it is part of the induction process.

It is essential that all new employees have a specific induction for your service and this will include fire prevention training.

You will need to, for all employees new to your service, complete orientation to role, organisation, policies and procedures, building, pay and conditions, team members and of course service users.

The Care Certificate will provide the knowledge needed to carry out the many functions of being a social care worker. The care worker will also do shadowing and be supported and monitored in their new role.

I hope this is helpful.

Sheila
