Appraising managers | QCS

As an owner of a care home how do we carry out manager supervision & appraisals. Where can I get any guidance for this process?

Hello,

I am assuming that you are the Responsible Person and you do therefore have the responsibility to either carry out or appoint someone to perform your Manager’s Annual Appraisal and any supervisions that you consider appropriate.

I am pleased to say that there is a great deal of literature available to help you.

I do not think that supervisions for your manager should take place more than three times a year.

You can find a great deal of information about supervisions on the Social Care Institute of Excellence (SCIE) website.

http://www.scie.org.uk/publications/guides/guide50/

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) have much really helpful advice about annual appraisals and performance management.

You need to set your performance indicators and targets to suit the needs of your service.

Best wishes.
