Can I be the Responsible Individual as well as the Registered Manager? | QCS

Dear Sheila,

I am the ‘Responsible Individual’ for a Domiciliary Care Agency. Our Registered Manager is having to give up the post for the time being. My question is whether I am able to take on both roles and titles whilst a new Registered Manager is being recruited? If so what are the processes in informing CQC?  I would be most grateful for your advice and help.

Dear N,

Thank you for your question.

This is fairly straightforward.

You will need to inform the CQC that your manager has left and you can do this one in of two ways, either by using the CQC notification form which can be found by clicking on the link below or, if you have a Provider Portal, you can notify them via the Portal.

http://www.cqc.org.uk/guidance-providers/notifications/changes-registered-details-registered-manager-activity

You will need to use another of these forms to inform the CQC that you will be the Acting Manager while you recruit a new manager and you will need to amend your Statement of Purpose. You must notify the CQC within 28 days of these changes.

Best wishes,

Sheila
