Is it mandatory to have a bed maintenance contract? | QCS

Hi Sheila,

I hope you are well!

I am working at a nursing home and I would like to ask you if it is mandatory to have a bed maintenance contract? And can you recommend any good companies for this that will come to the Surrey area?

Thanks a lot!

Jay

Dear Jay,

It is essential that all the equipment that you use in your nursing home or care home is fit for purpose. I do not know what types of bed you have.

In all instances, I would suggest that in the first instance you should consult the manufacturer for their advice. They may have a service that they can offer.

If it is not possible to consult the manufacturer, then the type of bed that you are using will be relevant. If you google the bed that you have then it should be possible to find the maintenance instructions on the internet.

Once you have that information, you should be able to find someone who can carry out the maintenance regime.

Please contact me if you cannot find that information on the net and let me have the name of the manufacturer.

You should have a maintenance programme with supporting evidence that you have carried it out.

Best wishes.

Sheila
