Notice required to close a care business? | QCS

As a Registered Manager and owner, when I want to retire if I have not sold the business, how much notice is needed by CQC on an intention to close it?

Dear Marilyn,

On 26 July this year CQC issued a press release titled: New care home closures; guidance for adult social care partners published

http://www.cqc.org.uk/content/new-care-home-closures-guidance-adult-social-care-partners-published

The press release refers to the publication of a guide on the closure of a care home; Managing care home closures a good practice guide for local authorities, clinical commissioning groups, NHS England, CQC, providers and partners

If you need to close your home I am sure that you will find this nine page guide helpful.

You can download the guide by clicking here: http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/keogh-review/Documents/quick-guides/1577_QuickGuide-CareHomes_9.pdf

I have one further piece of advice do not tell anyone of your plan until you have definitely made up your mind.

With best wishes.

Sheila
