What is the Mandatory Training required to be a Care Assistant?

Hi Sheila, can you list all training which is required to become an care assistant?

Dear A,

Thank you for your question.

These questions are never straightforward but I recommend that you refer to the Ongoing Learning and Development in Adult Social Care publication which was written by Skills for Care including:

  • How effective learning and  development can lead to a knowledgeable and skilled workforce

  • A list of the recommended minimum learning and development areas in which adult care workers should be competent

  • When and how learning should be refreshed

  • Statutory requirements regarding worker training and competence

  • How to support both care and non-care workers’ learning and development.

https://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/Documents/Learning-and-development/Ongoing-learning-and-development-guide.pdf

I think you will find this publication extremely helpful.

Best wishes.

Sheila
