A) COVID-19: Policy Paper – Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Strategy: stabilise and build resilience – Launched 28 September

This details the government’s strategy for preparing for a second wave of COVID-19 covering supply and logistics for distribution of PPE. For more information click here.

B) COVID-19: management of staff and exposed patients or residents in health and social care settings – Updated 28 September

Information on the eligibility for PCR retesting in staff who have tested positive to be exempt for retesting for 90 days has been added. For more information click here.

C) COVID-19: how to work safely in care homes – Updated 28 September

More information has been included on the type of gloves, with specific note to vinyl gloves not being worn where there will be contact with bodily fluids or blood. For more information click here.

E) PPE Portal – Updated 01 October

The guidance has been updated with new order limit information for all sectors which reflects recent increases. Order information on type II masks has been removed. For more information click here.

F) Immigration Health Surcharge Reimbursement – Updated 01 October

Overseas NHS and care workers can now claim their reimbursement from the surcharge. For more information click here.

G) NHSX – Free iPads for Care Homes

NHSX are offering free iPads to support care homes with the ongoing care of their residents. The deadline to apply for the iPads is Friday 23rd October 2020. Access to more information and the application form can be found here.

H) Adult Social Care Infection Control Fund – Round Two – Published 01 October

The next stage of the Infection Control Fund has been issued with the Fund extended until 31st March 2021. For more information click here and also refer to the summary document within the QCS resource centre.
