More about the speakers:

Jackie Pool, QCS Dementia Care Champion

Prior to joining QCS, Jackie was the Director of Memory Care of Sunrise Senior Living, an international care provider for the last four years.

An experienced occupational therapist, Jackie has worked in a number of high profile roles for some of the country’s largest health and social care providers. She is also a prolific national and international conference speaker and author of books and articles on the topic of dementia.

Jackie also works in academia, where she’s a researcher at the Universities of Manchester and Exeter, and has collaborated with academics from Bangor University on a ground-breaking study, which assesses the impact of cognitive rehabilitation on those living with dementia.

Jackie is also a multi-award winner. In 2011, she won the ‘National Dementia Care Award’ for ‘Best Dementia Care Personality’. In 2020, she was also recognised by NAPA for her outstanding career contribution.

 

Kelly Fortune, NPD Project Manager at apetito UK

Kelly is a Product Development Project Manager at apetito and Wiltshire Farm Foods and also a Registered Nutritionist. Kelly has over 10 years’ experience developing meals and desserts to suit a range of customers’ nutritional requirements including texture modified meals for people with dysphagia, a range of allergen free meals as well as a new innovative finger food range for people living with dementia.

 

Declan Henderson, Specialist Nutrition Category Development Manager at apetito UK

Declan trained as a Dietitian at the University of Surrey and since graduation has been working for apetito & Wiltshire Farm Foods looking after their specialist nutrition offering. Declan is responsible for over 100 texture modified meals as well as apetito’s world leading finger foods bites range. He is particularly passionate about supporting older adults to meet their dietary needs in health and social care settings

 

Senga Currie, QCS Head of Care Development (Scotland)

Senga has been a registered mental nurse and registered general nurse for 38 years, working in various areas within the NHS, community nursing, the field of addictions and the private sector.

Since 1998 she has been working with care homes, starting as a nursing sister and moving into roles of home manager, regional manager, care services manager and regulation manager.

She holds a BSc(Hons) in Health Care, Diploma in Social Science and Advanced Diploma in Food Hygiene.
