Care Home (Learning Disability)
Fire Safety Policy and Procedure
Reviewed policy to reflect changes in industry best practice. This policy has a new reference code. Its previous code was MR04.
Verification and Certification of Death Policy and Procedure
Updated to reflect the changes as a result of Policing and Crimes Act 2017 that affect Deprivation of Liberty safeguards. This policy also has a new reference code, previously it was CC76.
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Policy and Procedure
The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards protect the rights of the most vulnerable adult service users, those who might be deprived of their liberty in order to give them necessary care or treatment.
While the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards only apply to people aged 18 or over who are in care homes or hospitals to be given essential care or treatment but lack capacity to consent to the arrangements for this when those arrangements amount to a deprivation of their liberty.
Other settings (such as supported living or shared lives) providing services to people aged 16 and over, who lack capacity to consent to arrangements for their care or treatment, where those arrangements amount to a deprivation of liberty, must apply (through the Commissioner of the service) to the Court of Protection for authorisation.
Correct and lawful practice and recording are essential, to protect the rights of the users of services and to protect the providers from liability.

This is a new policy. The policy covers the giving of references both once a member of staff has left and during employment when other types of references may be required e.g. financial, etc.
Heat Wave Policy and Procedure
A new policy to ensure that the service understands the risks to Service Users and staff during hot weather and are able to take steps to reduce those risks.

Supporting Independence in Personal Care Policy and Procedure
The policy has been updated to clarify how providers must meet the expectations of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 when personal care is given in the absence of capacity to consent to it. Updated to the new QCS policy format.
Double Handed Hoist Policy and Procedure
New document to clarify double handed moving and handling within a care home with or without nursing.
Mental Health Act 1983 and Regulations 2008 Policy and Procedure
The policy has been reviewed to comply with the new QCS format, and legal references have been updated.
