Patient and Public Involvement Policy and Procedure

Clinical Governance Practice Management Region: | Reference: GCP08

This policy has been significantly expanded to cover patient and public involvement which ranges from individual patients being enabled to share in decisions about their healthcare based on the options available to them to patients participating in how their practice runs its services and acting as practice representatives in commissioner level patient involvement activities. The policy provides input on the importance of patient and public involvement, the various forms it can take and the resulting benefits and there is emphasis on patient involvement being representative of an individual’s beliefs or a group’s collective view. The title of this policy has changed from Patient Involvement Policy and Procedure to Patient and Public Involvement Policy and Procedure.
