Health and Safety Policy and Procedure

This policy outlines the approach to health and safety covering non-clinical, non-patient facing activities associated with the provision of primary medical services in a general practice setting. The policy scope excludes clinical/nursing incidents which would be covered by professional indemnity insurance. The policy has been updated to have more detailed content focusing on the implications for patients, users and contractors because “at work” actually means ‘on the premises’ and ‘because of what the practice does’. More information and signposting on reporting and notification requirements has also been included.

CQC Fundamental Standards Policy and Procedure

This policy has been reviewed in order to reflect current Fundamental Standards. This will assist with the understanding and use of the QCS management system. It details the use of the Fundamental Standards area of the system and how to use the ‘supporting policies’. This policy has been reviewed and references have been checked and updated. No changes to policy content were necessary.

Safeguarding Adults Policy and Procedure

Clinical Governance Risk Management and Safeguarding Region: | Reference: GCR05

This policy has been updated and now only relates to safeguarding adults. Child protection is covered in a separate policy. As such, the title of this policy has been changed from ‘Safeguarding Policy and Procedure’ to ‘Safeguarding Adults Policy and Procedure’. Providers will need to ensure that local safeguarding reporting procedures are attached to this policy. Local authority safeguarding contact details and how to escalate concerns locally must be clearly visible within the policy and procedure. A new section has been added to your system details requiring you to state the name of your Safeguarding Adult Lead.
