This policy has been reviewed and updated to include PPE guidance during the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic in line with PHE recommendations. Information has been added about PPE compliance, use and storage, single use and sessional PPE, PPE audit, the IPC Lead responsibilities and the current requirement for the use of face masks for non-clinical staff.
Further reading and references have been added for doffing PPE and existing references have been checked and updated.

Risks have been added from Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other waterborne pathogens when water outlets have not been used or flushed regularly due to temporary closure of the Practice, branch surgery or consulting rooms.
