Respiration Policy and Procedure
This policy outlines how people using services will be supported when they require monitoring of their respiratory rate. It has been reviewed and a section relating to the procedure for recording respiration added to guide staff (see 5.4). References have also updated been to ensure they remain current.
Epilepsy Policy and Procedure
This policy sets out how the service will support service users who have seizures and the procedures staff must follow to ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users. It has been reviewed with updates made throughout the procedural and Key Facts sections. References have also been checked to ensure they remain current.
Notice Periods Policy and Procedure
This policy outlines the process for employees to submit their notice. It has been reviewed with no significant changes and references have been checked and updated.
Equality and Human Rights Policy and Procedure
Human rights underpin all interactions in health and social care. This policy aligns with new HIQA guidance on the Human rights-based approach in Health and Social Care Services documentation (HIQA, March 2021) and the FREDA principles therein, which simplify this complex area for care staff and inform rights-based care services delivery. It has been reviewed with minor changes and references checked and updated.

Parental Leave Policy and Procedure
This policy sets out guidance around parental leave. It has been reviewed with minimal changes to wording and the definition of parental leave extended to include children with disability up to age 16. All references checked to ensure they remain current.
Coronavirus Policy and Procedure
This policy is an overarching policy on coronavirus and must be read alongside the suite of policies and procedures in the COVID-19 Hub. It has been reviewed and updated in the procedure sections, including criteria for supporting service users to contact the GP (5.6); outbreak in the service’s office premises (5.10); social and family gatherings (5.15); and the removal of reference to specific COVID-19 variants as there have been 5 variants identified in Ireland to date. References have also been reviewed and updated.
Adults with Autism Policy and Procedure
This policy supports with raising awareness amongst staff to provide safe and effective support to adults in their care who have autism. It has been reviewed and reference to a ‘rights-based approach’ added into section 5.4 only. Links have also been updated to ensure they remain current.
Advocacy Policy and Procedure
This policy outlines how advocacy should be used and the steps to follow to support Service Users who may require this support. It has been reviewed and minor updates made to sections 3.1, 4.1 and 5.1. References have also been checked to ensure they remain current.
Diabetes Policy and Procedure
This policy details how the organisation will support service users who are at risk of, or present with, Diabetes. Based on recommendations from Diabetes Ireland, HSE and National Guidelines (including UK NICE) it sets out how to assess, support and manage risk and provides guidance. The policy has been reviewed and updated in sections 4.3, 5.1, 5.3 and 5.10. References have also been checked to ensure they remain current.
