Safeguarding - Mental Health Care Home
Mental Capacity Act 2005 Policy and Procedure
Converted to new QCS policy format, as well as adding a greater emphasis throughout on the decision specific nature of the Mental Capacity Act and its emphasis on finding the least restrictive option when making decisions for someone who lacks mental capacity.
Choice of Carer Gender Policy and Procedure
This policy has been converted into the new format. It has also been updated with the addition of ‘Best Interest Decision’ information throughout policy and additional legislation (this is not direct legislation, but does impact this policy).
Challenging Behaviour Policy and Procedure
References have been updated in this policy to reflect updated guidance from the Department of Health and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
Service Users with Communication Difficulties Policy and Procedure
Updated to reflect the new ‘Accessible Information Standard’, and the requirement to have systems implemented by 31st July 2016.
Expanded definition of communication difficulties, and reference has been made to the importance of communication in assessing a person’s mental capacity to make a particular decision. Converted to new policy format.
Restraint Policy and Procedure
The Restraint Policy and Procedure has been extensively updated with additional information regarding the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty.
Pre-Admission and Admission Policy and Procedure
This policy has been amended to reflect the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, which regards decisions to be made as specific, so that capacity should be tested for each decision to be made, including whether to move to a care home in the first instance. The policy has also been changed to reflect the introduction of pension credits and the nature of financial assessments conducted by the local authority with relation to new regulations under the Care Act 2014.
Missing Client Policy and Procedure
This policy and procedure has been changed to reflect the law on Deprivation of Liberty regarding service users who might go missing, and to reflect guidance given to police forces regarding responses to missing vulnerable adults.
Dementia Policy and Procedure
The Dementia Policy and Procedure is a new addition to your QCS System. Over the coming months we will be further developing the policy to add even more helpful tools to assist you in providing person centred care for your users with Dementia. Watch for further updates.
Changes in Health State Policy and Procedure
This policy has been updated to assist you to appropriately respond to changes in the health status of people who use your service.
Service User Care Planning Policy and Procedure
This policy has been updated to assist you in maintaining accurate and up-to-date care planning records. It’s also been updated with details on the responsibilities for implementation of care plans, and an expanded policy.
