This policy links in with the Infection Control Standards for Adult Care Homes: Final Standards and acts as the overarching policy for the suite of policies, resources and toolkits available to support a clean safe environment. The procedures have been extended to provide further clarity as well as being supplemented with further references and resources.

This policy has had a name change to the ‘Right to Work Checks Policy and Procedure’ (previously known as Employment of Non-UK Citizens Policy and Procedure). The reason for this is to promote that Right to Work checks should be carried out on every prospective employee, not just non-UK citizens. The policy has been updated to include reference to the fact that the new Online Right to Work Checking Service now gives employers a statutory defence to any illegal working should they have followed it fully and completely.
This policy has been updated to enable customisation of notice periods so that they reflect the Organisation’s employment contract information. The Employee Termination Administration Record has also been updated to include reference to Disclosure Scotland notification in cases where a member of staff is dismissed for adult support and protection reasons.
This document has been reviewed and the Procedure section updated to be more user friendly.
