Medical Emergency Policy and Procedure

The medical emergency policy has been reviewed and converted to the new QCS policy format. The content has grown to include some further procedural standards in relation to taking a proactive approach to minimising the deterioration of a Service User before it becomes a medical emergency, as well as providing some clarity for actions to take when responding to a medical emergency.

Restraint Policy and Procedure

Care Management Rights & Abuse Region: | Reference: SCR17

The policy has been converted to the new QCS format. The guidance in the area of restraint and restrictive practices has been updated, and the policy format has been refreshed to improve usability and accessibility. Key facts have been developed, and what the Service could do to evidence outstanding practice in the area of restraint and restrictive practices have been added. The policy now has more detail and references the latest government guidance in this area. The policy now has a ‘restraint register’, and the information surrounding bed rails has been removed and will be relocated to a more appropriate policy area.

Dementia Policy and Procedure

Policy converted to new QCS format. This policy promotes a culture of inclusion and empowerment for service users diagnosed with dementia. Procedures are extended and there is a suite of resources available to access. This policy also includes the need for staff to consider how they might support service users who are LGBT and living with dementia. References to resources have been included.
