Sex, Sexuality and Relationships Policy and Procedure

This policy sets out to discuss how the organisation will support Service Users to maintain intimate relationships whilst ensuring sexual safety and the protection of adults who may be vulnerable to abuse. The policy has been reviewed with minor changes only and the lines of enquiry have been added to reflect compliance with Welsh regulations.

Restraint Policy and Procedure

This policy will guide staff on care and support actions that can be viewed as restrictive and how to decide, record and review if these actions are necessary. During the coronavirus pandemic, there may be strategies implemented to keep people safe who are self-isolating and adhering to social distancing, which are restrictive. However, adhering to government advice is necessary. The policy has been reviewed in light of the coronavirus pandemic, with a procedural section, definitions and references added in relation to this. Existing references and links have been checked and remain current.

Hospital Admission and Discharge Policy and Procedure

This policy details how the service will manage the process between hospital admissions and discharges. It acknowledges the need for co-production and effective partnership working between all parties. The policy has been reviewed with minor changes only and the inclusion of the NICE red bag pathway resource to support a smooth discharge process.

Choice Policy and Procedure

This policy sets out how the service will ensure that individuals have choice in all aspects of their life. Its content is underpinned by the Social Services & Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 principles. The policy has been reviewed with some content changes and an addition in the training section of the procedure to include reference to completion of the All Wales Induction Framework. References have also been reviewed to ensure they remain current.

Choice of Carer Gender Policy and Procedure

This policy outlines how individuals will be supported in the choice of their carer’s gender and documented within the personal planning process. It has been reviewed with new legislation and the welsh lines of enquiry added to highlight how it meets the regulations. Two additional policy statements, a key fact and a definition have been included that staff should familiarise themselves with. References have also been checked to ensure they remain current.

Moving and Handling Policy and Procedure

This policy details how the service will support both staff and Individuals with manual handling requirements. It highlights the need for risk assessments and regular review of risks associated with manual handling tasks, via the TILEO assessment process. This policy has been reviewed with some content changes made and the Welsh Lines of Enquiry included. References have been reviewed and checked with some additional resources also included that staff should familiarise themselves with.

Mobility Policy and Procedure

This policy details how the service will promote and empower Individuals to be as independently mobile as possible for as long as possible, by use of activity programs in-house (and externally accessed) and through daily ongoing support from staff. It has been reviewed with some minor content changes, an additional definition added and some extra resources included. Other references have been checked and they remain current.

Pressure Ulcer Management Policy and Procedure

Care Management Care Practice Region: | Reference: WCC30

This policy details how the service will support Individuals who are at risk of or present with pressure ulcers. It defines the roles and responsibilities of staff and details the clinical governance framework for reducing risk and reflection. The policy has been reviewed with changes made to the procedures to reflect the NHS improvement standards relating to definitions (specifically procedure 5.3 and 5.7). A definition has been amended to reflect the current recommended definition, and a further definition added. The term grade has been removed and replaced with Category across the procedure section.
