Pre-Admission and Admission Policy and Procedure

Care Planning Service Commencement Region: | Reference: WCA13

Policy updated and reviewed and now includes wider reference to the Mental Capacity Act and the need to instruct an Independent Mental Capacity Advocate for service users that lack capacity and have no other independent support.

Safeguarding Policy and Procedure

Care Management Rights & Abuse Region: | Reference: WCR03

This policy outlines the safeguarding processes to follow at the service. It has been reviewed and an additional procedural section added for the safeguarding of children. This is as a result of the Wales Safeguarding Procedures replacing the All Wales Child Protection Procedures 2008. References have also been updated and additional ones added in line with these new safeguarding procedures, staff must familiarise themselves with these.

Whistleblowing Policy and Procedure

This policy outlines the procedure to follow if a person wishes to ‘whistleblow’ and raise a concern about a wrongdoing in their workplace. It has been updated to include procedures on how to ensure compliance with The Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act, which imposed a new personal liability on co-workers who victimise or harass whistleblowers as well as vicarious liability on the part of their employers.

Data Protection and Confidentiality Policy and Procedure

This policy outlines confidentiality and data protection and how these should be approached within a service to ensure people’s information remains safe. A template confidentiality agreement and guidance information are also available within the forms section. The policy has been reviewed and updated. Increased emphasis placed on data protection and confidentiality as well as consideration for company data confidentiality. The title of this policy has been changed to ‘Data Protection and Confidentiality Policy and Procedure’ to reflect these changes. Previously it was ‘Confidentiality Policy and Procedure’.

Mental Capacity Act (MCA) 2005 Policy and Procedure

References have been updated to include guidance on the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 as implemented. The policy also refers to the forthcoming changes to how deprivation of liberty will be authorised when the Liberty Protection Safeguards come into effect in autumn 2020.
