Respond to CQC’s Public Feedback on CQC’s Assessment Frameworks: Safety in Services

What is it about?

CQC have launched a survey to ask people what a safe service feels like to them. This forms part of the assessment framework and the Key Lines of Enquiry under the 5 Key Questions focusing on ‘Safe’.

How do I fill in the survey?

The questions in the survey revolve around statements that you rate on a 4 point scale from ‘very safe’ to ‘not safe at all’. There is also a free text box to put other comments around safety at the end of the survey.

If you are hoping for an in-depth questionnaire, this is not it. The 5 statements are simple – and reflect the way CQC want to pare back and make statements understandable to all. Remember, this survey is about how a service feels.

Did I think this represented a holistic look at safety?

No, personally I felt the statements lacked the provider’s proactive look at safety. This is something that can be observed by the public in the responsive nature of staff and how the service is physically set up to ensure safety.

A moment of humour

What I did chuckle at was there were more questions around who I was, than questions about safety.

Have your say

If you would like to get involved and make sure that CQC are on point in their early thinking, you have until 9th July.

You can access the survey on https://cqc.citizenlab.co/en-GB/projects/public-feedback-on-cqc-s-assessment-frameworks-safety-in-services. You need to set up an account to take part.
