Dear Senga,

I work in Care at Home and I have been told that I must be registered with SSSC by end of the year, is this correct? I thought I had until next year to register.

Hello Dotty,

That is correct, you need to apply for registration with SSSC by 13 December 2019 to guarantee your application is processed before the mandatory date for registration. SSSC guarantee anyone applying on or before this date will have their application by the mandatory registration date of 30 September 2020.

The 13 December 2019 deadline does not apply if you are a new worker, you must still apply for registration as soon as practicable after starting your role to make sure you are registered within your first six months.

Information about registration can be found here

I hope that clarifies things for you.

Regards

Senga
