Can an activity person cut hair? | QCS

I work in a nursing home. Can an activity person cut a resident’s hair? We used to have a qualified hairdresser do this

Thank you for your question. COVID-19 has resulted in many challenges and the inability to get a haircut is an issue that many people are facing. As to whether an activity person can cut a residents hair is down to whether the resident can consent to have someone other than a hairdresser or barber cut their hair. If they do have the capacity, and the resident has asked, given the current situation, I would agree. However, as the lockdown is easing it may be better to see if someone can visit.
