Can someone with 15 years experience but no qualifications work as a senior carer? | QCS

I have an employee who trained as a nurse for three years but did not pass here nurse and she has a 15 years experience in care with very good traceable references, but she doesn’t have the NVQ level 3. Can she work as a senior carer? The university has provided an evidence that she studied nursing with them.

This is an interesting question.

There is no set criteria for appointing a senior carer and her experience is in itself enough, but if I were in your position I would look for someway of being able to demonstrate her competence.

This would not be difficult.

She could begin with the Care Certificate which she should be in a position to demonstrate her competence very quickly and hopefully this will lead her on to a further qualification.

Please come back to me if you have a supplementary question.

Best wishes,

Sheila
