If employees are NVQ3 qualified in Health and Social care, do they still require further training / refresher courses in areas of drug administration, mental capacity, dementia and good hygiene, amongst other courses?

All care staff should have a continuing professional development programme which keeps them refreshed and up-to-date with any legislation, regulation or best practice changes. CQC inspection will look to be satisfied that appropriate arrangements are in place to ensure staff are developed and trained appropriately to meet the current and future needs of service users.

Many of the topics in your question are so important that being reminded of the things previously told makes it a worthwhile process even when there has been no apparent changes in practice. Staff can forget or be unsure, particularly if they do perform tasks infrequently. It is therefore helpful to both remind staff and also bring to their attention changes in either practice or the context where they have occurred.
