Demanding family vs best interests of the Client | QCS

I was wondering how do care homes deal with a demanding family, that are not always within the best interests of the Client?

Dear Marie,

I think you will be surprised how many times I am asked a question similar to yours.

My first question of course is who is funding the service user.

If it is the local authority then you should be discussing this with them. I am sure they will be able to offer you advice and may want to speak with the family and will be supportive of you.

If the service user is privately funded then I would be grateful if you come back to me with some information about the demands being made and I will be happy to respond again. You can write to me privately if that is what you would prefer. Same email address but asking for a private response.

Best wishes.

Sheila
