Hi Sheila, how long after my PIR submission date, should I expect an inspection from the CQC?

Dear S,

Thank you for your question.

When the Provider Information Return was originally introduced it was understood that the inspection would follow within about 6 months but it must be stressed that that was not always the case and sometimes inspection did not follow for much longer periods.

The six month period remains the intention but it is not always the case.

CQC has been working on introducing the Provider Information Centre (PIC) which was to have  been rolled out over a relatively long period of time and due to be concluded in 2018/19. For the moment the introduction of the PIC has been suspended.

When the roll out of PIC begins again and is completed you will be able to update your return regularly.

I hope this is helpful.

Best wishes.

Sheila
