Would it be breaking the Data Protection Law to pin a Staff Rota in the locker room of a care home, for staff to copy?
Dear J
Thank you for your email. You don’t tell me whether the locker room can be other people apart from those who are going to be on the rota as this raises a security question rather than a GDPR question. If it is only care staff then the Information Commissioner’s Office state that your organisation must have a valid lawful basis in order to process (display on the notice board) personal data of the staff. There are six available lawful bases for processing. Which basis is most appropriate to use will depend on the purpose of the processing and the relationship with the individual.
You may find it useful to view their guidance on lawful basis for processing here https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/lawful-basis-for-processing/.
They have produced the lawful basis interactive guidance tool, to give tailored guidance on which lawful basis is likely to be most appropriate for your processing activities. I hope this helps.
