Is there any funding available for training for self-employed carers? | QCS

We are a small team of self employed private carers and would like to take our NVQ Level 3. Plenty of courses online but around £800, there is government funding for employers but is there any funding for the self employed?

Dear Hazel,

Thanks for your question.

I thought I knew the answer but I wasn’t sure so I looked at the Skills for Care website and found that the answer to your question is yes. There is some funding available.

The resource for you to look at is to be found here:

http://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/Recruitment-retention/Employing-your-own-care-and-support/Employing-your-own-care-and-support.aspx

and the part about help with funding for training is here:

http://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/Learning-development/Funding/Individual-employer-funding/Individual-employer-funding.aspx

I hope this is helpful.

Best wishes.

Sheila
