Do I need to give training plans to CQC? | QCS

Hi Sheila,

As the regional trainer for new care and support workers, do I need to provide lesson plans for CQC evidence?
Many thanks
Sharon

Dear Sharon,

Thank you for your question.

In the KLOEs for home care (it is similar for care homes) within the question “Is it Safe” one of the prompts is:

What arrangements are there for making sure that staff have the right mix of skills, competencies, qualifications, experience and knowledge, to meet people’s individual needs?

A service needs to be able to provide the evidence around training if it is asked for.

Evidence could be a certificate from the trainer. It could be a work book in some cases.

If the care workers are new, then I think that an inspector might well ask about your induction programme for new staff and they would be particularly interested to know what areas are covered before the member of staff can begin work particularly if they are going to be working alone.

I hope this is helpful but please come back to me with further information if you think you need a more detailed response.

Best wishes.

Sheila
