RMN practising without a valid PIN number | QCS

I know of an RMN who has practised on numerous occasions without a valid PIN number. What should I do?

Thank you for this question which is one of the most serious questions I have ever received.

It is a criminal offence to practice as a nurse without the appropriate qualifications and that would include being on the register of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). http://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/ This would include renewing registration as and when required.

Anyone employing a nurse should check the pin number given to them by the applicant. This is a fairly straightforward task and can be done through the NMC website.

These are the immediate ways you could report this:

  • Speak to the employer
  • Speak to the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Speak to the Police

If I can help in anyway please contact me again.

Best wishes.
