Hi Sheila,
I am a holder of a Bachelor of Arts Degree (2:1) in Youth and Community Work and wanted to ask if this would be acceptable for registration as a Registered Manager of a Health and Care Agency which I intend to register. I have undertaken a management module as part of my degree programme. I have worked in intermediate management level over 5 years.

Dear Edward,
You have a combination of qualification and experience and I believe that this would be suitable for registration by CQC as a Registered Manager provided your experience has been in Adult Social Care.
It is possible that a condition of registration might be attached to your registration if CQC thought that were necessary.
I am sure you have already looked at the registration forms on CQC’s website. CQC have on their website a supporting information and guidance document called: “Qualifications and continuing professional development requirements for registered managers and for the practitioners they supervise”. I would also suggest you also look at Skills for Care and the National Skills Academy for Social Care’s websites.
They are responsible for Leadership and Management development in social care and would be able to give you further advice.
You should of course continue with your development once you are registered.
Best wishes.
Sheila Scott
