I am about to buy a care home, yet I am not registered with CQC yet. After reading some things up, I found that it could take up to 3-4 months to register to an organisation as a new provider. Is that the case?
Would it be quicker if I buy a domiciliary home company that’s already registered and change the registered activity via the portal? Would both processes take up the same amount of time?
Dear Jo,
I really need more information from you before I give you a specific answer. The main question is are you buying an existing business or starting a care home from scratch?
However, I am sure you can find the answer to your question here on the CQC website: http://www.cqc.org.uk/content/adult-social-care-providers which gives advice on their approach to regulating services, including information about registration and fees.
Do come back to me if you need further advice.
Sheila
