If a small group of care homes, which are registered, employ one registered manager across multiple sites, what designation of staff would be required to be on-site in the absence of a registered person?
Dear P,
This is an interesting question.
The answer is that it would be just the same as in any care home, the Registered Manager cannot be on duty all the time. Therefore, there needs to be senior care workers who are covering the shifts that the Registered Manager is not there.
The Registered Manager needs to be confident that the “shift leader” has the competence and experience to both lead the shift and to respond competently in the event of an emergency.
Best wishes.
