To set up a domiciliary care business you will need the following insurance:

Public liability of £5000,000

Employers Liability of £5000,000

Professional Indemnity of £2000,000

There are a range of providers that can offer this. Be clear when you apply about the service you provide and how well your staff are trained. You may also wish to mention (if you are not asked) if you will be asking carers to take service users out in their own vehicles from time to time. You will have a responsibility as an employer to ensure that your staff have roadworthy and privately insured vehicles with a current MOT. Even if the vehicles are personally owned by them, ensure that you confirm this information with staff annually.
