I understand about the new responsibilities around the Duty of Candour but I am wondering who should be responsible for delivering an apology? – Michael
Dear Michael,
If you are a subscriber to QCS, you will have received the Policy and Procedure relating to the Duty of Candour.
The Policy and Procedure spells out that the Duty of Candour relates to notifiable incidents (ie incidents that have to be reported to CQC).
The Registered Manager would normally be responsible for determining that a notification needs to be made and therefore would also normally be the person who issues an apology. This seems to me to be appropriate as one would expect the apology to be delivered by a senior member of staff.
Best wishes,
