Will the CQC grant me registration if I have previously worked as a registered manager where the rating given was ‘requires improvement’?

The short answer is yes, being a manager of an RI rated service is not a bar to future registration. However, the CQC will assess each registration on a case by case basis and make sure that you satisfy their requirements and that you are a ‘fit person’ to be a manager. So you may be rejected, but not solely because of the fact you managed a service rated as RI in the past.
