We have become aware some providers are not notifying us about confirmed cases of COVID-19 among people living at their services or staff employed there.

We appreciate this remains a very busy and difficult time for you. National guidance may change on the definition of an outbreak, however it is important you continue notify us of each confirmed COVID positive case in staff or people using the service as this is a legal obligation under our section 32 powers.

We collect this information to enable us to identify any patterns or trends in services and to draw conclusions about the safety and stability of services e.g. staffing pressures. This also helps us support you by ensuring we keep the national picture alive and current.

Inspectors will be following up instances where notifications are not made and will also be reviewing this at inspection.
