  • Yes → Go to Q3
  • No → Routine CQC Assessment (34 Quality Statements) → END

 

Q3. Is your practice currently considered low risk by CQC, e.g. are you aware of any concerns raised with the regulator, or any concerning data?

  • Yes → Go to Q4
  • No → Routine CQC Assessment (34 Quality Statements) → END

 

Q4. Do you have any ongoing regulatory activity with CQC, e.g. ongoing inspection or enforcement?

  • Yes → Routine CQC Assessment (34 Quality Statements) → END
  • No → Go to Q5

 

Q5. Is your practice active (so you have not notified CQC that your practice is dormant)?

  • Yes → You will have a Returning to Good Assessment → END
  • No → Routine CQC Assessment (34 Quality Statements) → END

If a practice is identified as requiring a Return to Good Inspection:

  • If you are selected for a standard Return to Good Assessment, this will focus on 10-12 Quality Statements, dependent on whether you are selected for a standard of enhanced inspection.
  • You will receive at least 5 working days’ notice before the site visit, not the usual 10
  • The assessment will include a site visit
  • A GP Specialist Advisor will not routinely be part of your inspection but may join if concerns are identified or positive escalation is required
  • If you are selected for an enhanced Return to Good Assessment, this will include an additional 2 clinical quality statements. Clinical searches will be undertaken by a CQC pharmacist or GP Specialist Advisor

If a practice is identified as requiring a Routine Inspection:

  • Your assessment will cover the full 34 quality statements within the CQC Single Assessment Framework
  • You will generally receive around two weeks’ notice of your inspection (consistent with standard announced visits)
  • The inspection typically includes both a site visit and a review of evidence submitted in advance
  • A GP Specialist Advisor will be involved to provide clinical insight
