A day of celebration for homecare
Careworkers across the country are being recognised for their amazing work on Wednesday in the first ever ‘Celebrating Homecare’ day.
‘Celebrating Homecare’ has been launched to celebrate and recognise the amazing work that homecarers provide. Every day of the year, homecare workers support people to live safely and well at home, enabling people to flourish within our communities.
The day is being led by the Homecare Association and the Care Workers’ Charity (CWC). With support from several care associations across the UK and Ireland including Scottish Care, Care Forum Wales, Independent Health & Care Providers (Northern Ireland) and Home and Community Care Ireland.
The theme for this year’s inaugural event is ‘made with care.’ This aims to highlight the great relationships between the people who give and receive care and the many activities they enjoy together.
Emily Watts, Domiciliary Care and Policy Lead for QCS said: “Homecare has always played a pivotal role in society and nevermore so than during the pandemic. Those providing care are a true asset to the health and social care sector and it’s right that we continue to celebrate the amazing work they do.”
Jane Townson, CEO of the Homecare Association added: “Homecare workers have been a lifeline for many people throughout the past 18 months, showing real selflessness and resilience in providing invaluable support to people in their own homes in incredibly challenging times. Their roles deserve to be celebrated now, and increasingly into the future.”
Karolina Gerlich, CEO of the CWC said: “It’s right and proper every so often to take a step back from the day to day and look at what you have achieved. Careworkers do such amazing work, bringing companionship, care and comfort to so many people.”
