Safeguarding adults should be at the heart of provision of domiciliary and residential care. There have been many enquiries in recent years where systems have been found not to be in place to ensure vulnerable people in care are protected from harm. The law and national policy around safeguarding can be complex, and is constantly subject to change. The Care Act 2014 will introduce new safeguarding measures. These are all reasons why it is essential for care homes and domiciliary care providers to understand procedures and have policies in place to ensure service users are protected and supported.

Safeguarding Policies & Toolkits

The QCS Safeguarding module is continually revised so that it is up to date in terms of current best practice. This enables you to:

  • Ensure systems are in place for the correct reporting of suspicions of abuse or harm to service users.
  • Have a management system in place to ensure proper investigation of abuse, and a care plan process that puts in place measures to protect the person from any further harm.
  • Inform staff regarding laws and policies that can be used to protect and support service users, and the staff who care for them.
  • Manage risk in a way that balances service users’ rights and your duty of care.

Case Studies
