Duty of Candour Policy and Procedure
The regulation became law in Scotland on 01/04/2018 and all staff need to know the process of identifying and reporting any incidents which may be reportable under the Act. This policy was reviewed with a new duty of candour checklist added, references and links checked and remain current.
Recording the Administration of Medication Policy and Procedure

Controlled Drugs Policy and Procedure
This policy will guide staff on the process around controlled drugs.
Administration of Medicines Policy and Procedure
This policy will help staff with the administration of medication and has links to documents that will provide further knowledge. It has been reviewed with minimal change, references and links checked and remain current.
Collection of Prescriptions Policy and Procedure
This policy will inform staff on the procedure to follow when collecting prescriptions for people who live in their own home. It has been reviewed with an additional procedure added about obtaining medication in an emergency. References and links have been checked and remain current.
Auditing and Monitoring of Medication Policy and Procedure
This policy will help staff with the auditing and monitoring of medication, following best practice advice and improving outcomes for service users. It has been reviewed with minimal changes made. References have also been reviewed and updated and staff should familiarise themselves with these.
As Required Medication Policy and Procedure
This policy will advise staff on the best practice procedures to follow in relation to ‘As Required’ medication. Staff must be aware of the contents and follow the guidance to ensure positive outcomes for Service Users. The policy has been reviewed with minimal changes made and references checked to ensure they remain current.
Medication Errors and Near Misses Policy and Procedure
This policy will direct staff on the measures to undertake if a medication error or near miss occurs. It has been reviewed with minimal change. References and links have been checked and remain current.
Medication Away from Home Policy and Procedure
This policy will inform staff on the process to follow if the service user requires medication when away from their home and the best practice process to follow. It has been reviewed with minimal change, references and links checked and remain current.
