Overarching Medication Policy and Procedure
This policy will support staff with many aspects of the medication process and is part of the suite of medication policies at QCS. It has been reviewed with minimal change, references and links checked and remain current.
Administration of Medicines Policy and Procedure
This policy has been reviewed and reference to levels of support updated to reflect the change to types of support. Information has been added in relation to the reuse of medication procedure during the COVID-19 pandemic and a reference added to support this. A new refusal of medication procedure has also been included that staff should familiarise themselves with.
Medication Errors and Near Misses Policy and Procedure
This policy outlines the process to follow to ensure the safety of the individual in relation to a medication error or near miss occurring. It has been reviewed with no significant changes and references have been checked and updated.

This policy will support with the reconciliation of medication to ensure that individuals remain safe and that no errors occur. It has been reviewed with no significant changes and references have been checked and updated.
Safe Disposal of Medication Policy and Procedure
This policy highlights the process for safely disposing of unused or expired medication. It has been reviewed with no significant changes and references have been checked and updated.
Training and Competency on Medications Policy and Procedure
This policy highlights how staff should be appropriately trained and assessed in relation to medication. It has been reviewed with no significant changes and references have been checked and updated.
Homely Remedies Policy and Procedure
This policy outlines the process to follow in relation to homely remedies that may be required by an individual. It has been reviewed and reference to the relevant Care Inspectorate Wales Lines of Enquiry added. Policy also amended to include the procedure to follow when individuals are admitted to the service with homely medicines.
