Clinical Procedures Policy and Procedure #3

Care Management Care Practice Region: | Reference: WCC05

This policy outlines clinical procedures and how these must be undertaken by staff at a service. It has been reviewed and significant changes have been made to the procedure including:

Importance of consulting with the GP, commissioners and others when clinical tasks are delegated to staff in a non-nursing environment
Delegated clinical tasks must only be delegated if a person is clinically stable and there is evidence that this risk has been assessed by the delegating healthcare professional
Delegating healthcare professionals to be involved in the care plan of the specific clinical task to ensure it meets the training, skills and competency of the delegated staff member
Delegation declaration form to be signed by the delegating healthcare professional and staff member
Importance of having an agreement in place detailing the level of support, supervision, oversight provided by the healthcare  professional to the delegated staff
