This policy will guide staff on the process to follow when admitting individuals from hospital to the care home. Included is the most recent advice from the Care Inspectorate and reference to the guidance from HPS – ‘COVID-19 – information and guidance for social or community care and residential settings’.
This policy will help staff understand food hygiene within individuals’ own homes, signpost staff to best practice and ensure they are delivering safe care and support around food. The policy has been reviewed with minimal changes and references checked to ensure they remain current.

Policy reviewed and updated to reflect the changes in communication methods that are needed to reflect the current Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. The policy includes references to SBAR which is a communication tool that ensures effective communication in a fast moving environment as well as references to communication guides for carers and management which have been added.
This policy will support staff who are responsible for staffing the service by signposting them to various tools and information which can help them assess staffing levels for those service users currently in their care. The recent Care Inspectorate response to questions about staffing during the COVID19 pandemic is included.
